A Note on an Asymptotically Good Tame Tower

چکیده

The explicit construction of function fields tower with many rational points relative to the genus in the tower play a key role for the construction of asymptotically good algebraic-geometric codes. In 1997 Garcia, Stichtenoth and Thomas [6] exhibited two recursive asymptotically good Kummer towers over any non-prime field. Wulftange determined the limit of one tower in his PhD thesis [13]. In this paper we determine the limit of another tower [14].

Tamely Ramified Towers and Discriminant Bounds for Number Fields

The root discriminant of a number field of degree n is the nth root of the absolute value of its discriminant. Let R2m be the minimal root discriminant for totally complex number fields of degree 2m, and put α0 = lim infmR2m. One knows that α0 ≥ 4πeγ ≈ 22.3, and, assuming the Generalized Riemann Hypothesis, α0 ≥ 8πeγ ≈ 44.7. It is of great interest to know if the latter bound is sharp. In 1978,...

Tame Loci of Generalized Local Cohomology Modules

Let $M$ and $N$ be two finitely generated graded modules over a standard graded Noetherian ring $R=bigoplus_{ngeq 0} R_n$. In this paper we show that if $R_{0}$ is semi-local of dimension $leq 2$ then, the set $hbox{Ass}_{R_{0}}Big(H^{i}_{R_{+}}(M,N)_{n}Big)$ is asymptotically stable for $nrightarrow -infty$ in some special cases. Also, we study the torsion-freeness of graded generalized local ...

Non-existence and Splitting Theorems for Normal Integral Bases

We establish new conditions that prevent the existence of (weak) normal integral bases in tame Galois extensions of number fields. This leads to the following result: under appropriate technical hypotheses, the existence of a normal integral basis in the upper layer of an abelian tower Q ⊂ K ⊂ L forces the tower to be split in a very strong sense.

The Only Way is Up On A Tower of Abstractions for Biology

We draw an analogy between biology and computer hardware systems and argue for the need of a tower of abstractions to tame complexity of living systems. Much like in hardware design, where engineers use a tower of abstractions to produce the most complex man-made systems, we stress that in reverse engineering of biological systems; only by using a tower of abstractions we would be able to under...
